An old story I know tells of a teacher who pours tea into a student’s cup until it begins to overflow. When the student protests, the teacher gently replies, “You must first empty your cup if you want to receive anything new.”
Over the past decade at Lincoln School in Costa Rica, my cup has been filled in ways I could never have imagined. It has been filled by extraordinary colleagues, thoughtful students, and families who believe schools shape not only intellect, but character. Lincoln has been far more than a workplace. It has been home. I will always be grateful for the trust this community placed in me and for the ways it has shaped me as both a leader and a person.
And yet, growth asks something of us. It asks us to approach what is next with humility and curiosity. Not because what we have experienced was insufficient, but because we believe there is still more to learn.
With that spirit, I am grateful to share that in 2026 I will begin a new chapter as High School Principal at Beijing City International School. From my earliest conversations with the BCIS community, I sensed a shared belief that education is about more than preparation for university. It is about helping young people discover who they are, who they will become, and how they will positively contribute to the world.
As I prepare for this transition, my commitment remains simple: every student will be known, supported, and challenged to become their best and favorite self. I am grateful for the journey at Lincoln and excited for the years of adventure and purpose ahead in Beijing.
