Building a Comprehensive Service-Learning Program (2019)

In this workshop, participants laid the foundation for designing and implementing a “boots on the ground” comprehensive service-learning program within their own school contexts. Drawing on the CLAS program model developed at Lincoln School, educators explored the essential components of high-quality service learning, including community partnerships, student agency, and real-world impact. Through collaborative planning and reflection, participants identified opportunities to integrate service learning into existing curricula and school structures. The session emphasized creating sustainable, purpose-driven programs that empower students to apply their learning in meaningful ways while contributing to their communities.
