In this workshop, participants examined the design and implementation of authentic, interdisciplinary performance tasks that bridge English Language Arts and social studies. Educators analyzed key processes for developing rigorous tasks, mapped opportunities for integration across grades 6–8, and collaborated to create performance tasks ready for immediate classroom use. The session emphasized aligning literacy skills with content standards, enabling students to engage in meaningful reading, writing, and inquiry grounded in real-world contexts. Teachers left with practical tools and frameworks to design cohesive, standards-aligned experiences that promote deeper learning, critical thinking, and cross-disciplinary connections.
